Migraine Symptoms

Migraine symptoms can vary from person to person, but they usually come in phases. Not everyone experiences all phases.

  1. Prodrome (hours–days before attack)
    Mood changes (irritability, depression, euphoria)
    Cravings (certain foods, sweets)
    Neck stiffness
    Fatigue or yawning
    Increased urination or thirst

  2. Aura

Usually lasts 5–60 minutes before or during headache:
Visual changes (flashing lights, zig-zag lines, blind spots)
Sensory symptoms (tingling, numbness in face/hand)
Speech or language problems (difficulty finding words)

Rarely, motor weakness

  1. Headache phase
Severe, throbbing or pulsating pain (often one-sided, but can be both sides)
    Pain worsens with physical activity
    Lasts 4–72 hours if untreated
    Associated with:
    Nausea, vomiting
Sensitivity to light , sound , sometimes smell
    Blurred vision or dizziness

  2. Postdrome (after headache ends)
Feeling drained, exhausted, or “washed out”
    Difficulty concentrating
    Sometimes mild EUPHORIA

Did you know about this ? Have you experienced any kind of migraine?

Interesting.

Yes, I know about migraines. I personally haven’t experienced them, but I’ve seen how severe headaches, nausea, and light sensitivity can really affect daily life for people who do.

This is a good explanation about how migraines are more than just bad headache. There are many symptoms that can be just experienced and not described.

Such a clear break down! thanks for sharing.

Yes, migraines are more than just a normal headache, and this post explains it very clearly. I didn’t know that they can come in so many phases like prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome. The symptoms like flashing lights, nausea, and sensitivity to light or sound sound really difficult to handle. It is surprising that the pain can last for hours or even days if not treated. I personally haven’t experienced migraine, but I know people who suffer from it and it really affects their daily life. This shows why awareness and proper management are very important for those who go through it.

Yes, I experienced it..

Yes migraine often comes in phases, not just headache. Prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome all affect how people feel. Many don’t realize symptoms like mood changes or visual disturbances are part of it. @dr_deepika
