Today, during a conversation with my colleagues. Someone shared a thought that quietly stayed with me.
Time changes everything. Faces change. Roles change. People move on. Even conversations fade from memory.
But one thing often doesn’t.
How we make someone feel in our presence.
The respect we offer without expecting anything in return. The kindness in our words. The patience we choose when it would be easier to be dismissive. The feeling of being heard, valued and treated with utmost dignity.
Years from now, people may not remember exactly what we actually said. They may also not even remember how we looked like.
They will always remember how they felt when they were with us.
It actually reminded me that every conversations is more than merely exchange of words. It is an opportunity to leave someone feeling a little lighter, more respected and nevertheless more understood.
So, when someone remembers you years from now…how do you hope they remember feeling in your presence?
