Is healthcare industry becoming a business rather than service ?

In this fast evolving modern world, healthcare is becoming a luxury as the cost of everything in healthcare from consultation bills to medications and insurance is increasing steeply. This is the situation in both India and abroad.

Should the govt make better laws to regulate costs of private healthcare? Should colleges train healthcare professionals to provide more cost effective treatment and make ethical decisions ?

What is your take on this ? Lets discuss

Absolutely agree, healthcare shouldn’t feel like a luxury. Government regulation is needed to keep costs in check, and yes, ethical, cost-conscious care should be a part of medical training. Quality treatment must be a right, not a privilege!

Yes, absolutely. Governments must regulate private healthcare costs to ensure access for all. At the same time, medical colleges should train future professionals in ethical, cost-effective care because medicine is a service, not a business.

That will make India another Cuba. When ever govt does business, it breeds corruption and inefficiency (see govt hospitals with rats running around and toilets smelling around) and furlough employees.

Solution lies in good policy formations , good implementation and better regulations.
A middle path is to encourage cooperative models.
