Going abroad can be a sign of success depending on source you used to go abroad . Going abroad by qualifying exams or government scholarships can be said that you have stepped towards success . But if u have just used the money only to get abroad and study rather than academic or your knowledge than it canât be said success fully.
Going abroad should be a choice rooted in clarity, not comparison. When decisions come from pressure rather than purpose, even âsuccessâ can feel empty. Growth and impact are possible anywhere if the path truly aligns with oneâs values.

I completely agree. I was excited to go abroad, but at some point I stayed more out of social expectation than desire - I just wanted to go home. That said, pushing myself to stay ended up helping me grow a lot as a person.
True!!!
Moving abroad has now become a peer pressure to many, leading to the fear of falling behind. But for one to which it is dream moving abroad is seen as new opportunities for career growth, a fresh start, a new environment and a quality life. One should think deeply whether moving abroad is beacuse of influence or is it dream.
In my view, going abroad isnât a must. As someone in biotech, Iâd tell juniors itâs about opportunitiesâyes, pay abroad can be tempting. But for me, itâs really about knowing your own goals and not just following the crowd
Well said. Choosing a path that really fits our goal matters
Totally agree with this point
In todayâs society this point needs a greater awareness in a generation where in the parents are more ambitious than the kids willing to take all the financial burden over them just for the bright future and the students moving out without planning that future well, this furthercreates a deep well pf financial burden high expectations which the students find difficult to tackle.
Hence all must choose their path that entwines with their expectations of life and the required efforts which need to be put in
This differs for different people. For me personally, I chose to study abroad because it gave me an opportunity to mix two completely different subjects. Sure it did feel like an experiment at first but soon became a decision I would choose in every single lifetime.
In todayâs day and age, going abroad for studies or a job is both a dream and a social expectation. But in my experience, it is also happening due to the current economic situation and the toxic work culture in our country. People are opting for masters only for the reason that it will help them get a visa easily. They can earn better and have a better quality of life. whereas we are protesting for clean air and water.
Well Said! Going abroad should be a personal choice, and not a social race. Success is not defined by location. Instead, your decisions should match your values and goals. One must feel fulfilled, whether you grow at home or overseas.
The title resonates deeply with many students and professionals. Going abroad can be enriching but it should not become default marker of success. A thoughtful reflection on choosing intention over expectation.
When decisions are driven by comparison or pressure rather than clarity and values, often it is followed by dissatisfaction at the end. Meaningful careers and satisfaction are possible both at home and abroad. What actually matters is alignment with oneâs own goals.
Offlate, I have seen a trend where going abroad have become a social expectation rather than a dream. Peer pressure also contribute to it. Many people strugless financially, emotionally and mentally. one should make a decision of going abroad with lot of clarity.
This brings out the exact mindset of todayâs youth. Due to peer pressure and social media going abroad for studies has become a trend . But they need to understand their cause and pursue the dream of studying in abroad only if its valuable and necessary.
It was only one or two decades back in the time when success was measured with a degree: A medical or an engineering. Now it is being measured with going abroad. In both the scenarios it seems more of a burden of social expectations.
To be successful one should always follow the path which aligns with his/her own vision.
I will say itâs a dream for some people and it could be because of financial constraints as well. As a dentist the salary I get in India is not even enough to run a family of four but in abroad more recognition is being provided which drives people towards the abroad dream
This is an intriguing topic. During these days going abroad is defined as SUCCESS not knowing the longterm burden and financial stress it creates. The decision should be taken based on ones personal goal and not because of social pressure .
Its true choosing ur career path at aboard should be ur own choice rather being influenced by friends and social world, because at times this becomes purposeless, as not choosing based on ur own goals and career growth.
Studying abroad has become a popular fad nowadays. Always remember that you may be treated as a secondary citizen there.
Very well described. This issue needs to be highlighted, but as far as the going abroad decision is concerned, firstly the parents should stop comparing about their child growth and impose their decisions on the children.
Also whether going abroad or not has to be the solely the childrenâs decision. And whatever the decision the parents should be proud and support their decisions.
Well said. Most students prefer moving abroad for better work culture and pay. If these could be achieved here, many would choose to stay in their homeland. Identifying the underlying reasons offers clearer thinking and helps build a stronger, more informed vision for future planning.
