Is becoming a patent attorney worth it?

Confusion as a profession is found in patent law.

You learn science to start with–biology, chemistry, the rudiments of engineering. Then you enter law. then you mix up both. And then somewhere in between, all people around you get perplexed.

Do you make a living as a lawyer or a scientist or corporate?

And the truthful answer to this is: yes.

You write and read molecules like a lawyer and a scientist. You take chemical reactions to be legal claims and legal descriptions to be scientific.

Brain is bilingual.

Even half the time, you are never exactly sure what is going on even with you–but it is all right since the field is rare, complicated and somehow well-compensated. And so you go on learning to survive in the mess.

So what do you think of pursuing law post bsc/msc?

Good option if you like both science and law. It opens careers in patents, pharma, and corporates. But needs an LLB and interest in legal work, not just science.
