Intentional tremors - What to do?

Tremors are abnormal involuntary shaky movements.

Tremors can be broadly classified as - Rest tremors and Intentional tremors.

  1. Rest Tremor: Shaking happens when you’re not moving.

  2. Intentional Tremor: Shaking happens when you’re trying to move.

Intentional tremors are very problematic as an individual might feel it as very embarrassing, especially in between the public.

Intentional tremors often stem from neurological issues like cerebellar disorders or multiple sclerosis. Treatment includes addressing the root cause, physical therapy, and in some cases, medications or deep brain stimulation.

Intentional tremors are an indication of a psycho-somatic disturbance with/without a cerebellar disorder at times. The management needs to extend beyond drugs, physiotherapy. A lot of times, psycho counselling and behavioral therapy to regulate cognition also greatly helps.
