It’s acidic nature helps it cross the stratum corneum) by being positively charged and hence binding to fatty acids. As it goes further down, it gets neutral in charge, moving through the cell membranes before finally reaching the systemiccirculation through dermatic lymphatic vessels.
This finding is still undergoing clinical trials. It had performed wonderfully in the preclinical studies. It showed a fast action (within 1 to 2 hrs) and sustained control ( for upto 12 hrs)

Well if insulin could be given in the form of skin lotion then it would dramatically change the diabetes treatment scenario. Would really help millions of people to control diabetes and related complications. This would further allow researcher to control other diseases with similar method.
