This is very relevant. Thanks
Its really great and useful. Just a helpful update that use JNC-8 guidelines in the future because it is the latest right now.
Hypertension is classified into normal, elevated, stage 1, stage 2, and hypertensive crisis based on systolic and diastolic readings, helping guide diagnosis, treatment, and risk assessment effectively.
This table is the most accepted classification system
Hypertension classification is as following
- Normal: Less than 120/80 mmHg
- Elevated: 120-129/80 mmHg
- Stage 1 Hypertension: 130-139/80-89 mmHg
- Stage 2 Hypertension: 140 or higher/90 or higher mmHg
These categories help guide treatment decisions and lifestyle recommendations.
