As many of Doctors transiting into medical writing and trying to balance their clinical life with a role of Medical writer. But just writing an article not only required keyboard but it requires many skills that one should have to learn before beginning.
When I was started my journey as medical writer being a Physician I can’t understand the technical terms in website like PubMed, NIH, Grammarly, Zotero etc. As I cannot relate with those skills and I find myself struggling get meaning of Data interpretation, Documentation standards, EMA and FDA guidelines, Yes I am still struggling and learning.
Yes If you don’t know about these skills and terms it doesn’t means that you are not eligible or you are not that smart !! It is totally normal to be not known by this especially people like us who came from healthcare background where these skills not considered as essential and included in syllabus. I am learning so as many others and there is nothing to be feel ashamed of or being underconfident we can master any art and skills if we work with dedications.
We all learned from ourselves and that’s a achievement and deserves appreciation.

Everyone who wants to learn something, has to start somewhere! So learning is not something related age or social order or background, it is an incessant flow of knowledge attained with experience. It is better to do something and keep on learning rather than thinking of being ashamed of inferior.
Science itself is field of continuous learning. From a physician to a medical writer, certain aspects might sound quite new to us. But being a clinician myself, for me it feels like reviewing new cases and learning new treatment modalities.
Learning is a continuous process. It has no end. Learning something new over time is a great way to keep yourself updated and upskilled. So it should be encouraged, not something to be ashamed of.
I completely relate to this. As someone from a healthcare background, I also found many medical writing terms and tools unfamiliar at first. It can feel overwhelming in the beginning, but with consistent learning and practice, these concepts gradually become easier. Every expert was once a beginner.
I can relate to this completely. As a healthcare practitioner exploring some non-clinical roles, I find many things new and difficult to understand. But science is itself a field of continuous learning and everyone learns at their own pace, so there is nothing to be ashamed of.
