Hostel life realities no one prepares for you

okay this hit different especially the part about being surrounded by people but still feeling alone?? nobody warned me about that, I literally used to sit in the common room with 10 people and still feel like i was the only one struggling.

The sleep cycle thing is so real it’s almost funny. Just one late night session and then suddenly its 4 am every day and you don’t even know how it happened

Honestly the food part got me the most because i didn’t even realize how bad it was until i went home for holidays and my mom was like what happened to you.

but yeah you’re right about the transitions thing. looking back i think those first few months broke me down in a way that actually made me stronger, like i figured out who i actually am without anyone helping me. Took time but it does get better. for anyone reading this who’s still in the thick of it it’s okay if you’re not okay right now, that’s literally part of the process nobody puts in the brochure

Hostel memories are which u can hold for lifetime. Hostel teaches the value of money, food and and most importantly how much we love our parents from inside. We learn responsibilities and we become the best version of ourself.

Hostel life was the best i would say because there we will be meeting so many peoples from various places, will be knowing about their culture & life, & will be seeing different characters & that is the place we will learn about life & survive without family & we will upgrade our life.

This post reminds me of my good old days in hostel, when we used to wait for the Vada, which was only served on Wednesday mornings. Not just the food, the bond we shared with our hostel seniors or juniors is also very special.

Hostel Life is found to be best days of our lives, the independence, freedom and responsibilities. At begining every thing seems to be fine but the circumstances we are face hits reality in hard. The independence we feel is not only restricts to our late night parties but it extends to financial independence, the freedom we seek doesn’t end up to trips but lies in freedom to choose things wisely. It is not only place that gives you memories but the place which teaches what life is and how to manage things in- in person and how to handle things alone.

I have spent my school and college days in hostel for more than 10 years.

Hostel life makes us learn more things . When it comes it food, students will eat only upto their capacities but it also depends on their body and theor capacity of how much they can eat. It differs from one to one.. Management should keep in mind about it and prepare food for all.

Hostel life is the definition of extreme opposites happening altogether in your life all at once. It teaches you to find home in people who are not in your blood relation. It teaches you the importance of being independent, learning to do things on your own and becoming self sufficient. However it cannot be denied that it is coupled with the bittersweet feeling of being away from family, the family you grew up with, the family you’ve spent most of your time with. The feeling of not being able to hug your mom after a difficult day at work or college, the feeling of not being able to sit with your dad and tell him about your problems, the feeling of not being able to sit with your siblings and nag them for the littlest of things. Truly an experience

Everything mentioned is true. However, growth is uncomfortable. Hostels teach you survival in the easiest way, with friends around, a roof over your head, and food on the plate. Cherish it as long as it lasts because the world after hostel is even more harsh and scary.

Hostel life is never easy for anyone; sometimes it can be harsh, and sometimes it feels good. As a hostel survivor, I must say you should go for it because life always gives you a lesson in some other way, and hostel life helps you in finding the solution to everything, whether it makes easy to cook Maggie or tea in a kettle rather than a pan at home.

As someone who is still in hostel for my graduate studies, I can relate to this so well. The struggle is real, but so is the experience. In the comforts of our homes we really do take thing for granted, but a single week in a hostel can be quite humbling. From remembering to give your clothes in the laundry, to reminding yourself to eat well and take care of yourself, everything is an experience in itself that no one really prepares you for.

You have captured the beauty of hostel life beyond the usual stories I have always heard. Though it comes with a lot of freedom, the baggage of responsibilities is huge against your expectations. The loneliness and lifestyle changes are major challenges—but they truly build you as a person.

So true.Hostel Life has its own advantages as well as disadvantages. It makes us self-reliant, confident enough to face any situation, independent, but at the same time we feel homesick and lonely. It disrupts our routine and we miss the nutritious food made by our mother.
