You don’t just survive hostel life. You evolve.
You learn how to sleep through alarms, power cuts, and someone’s roommate watching YouTube on full vollume at 2 AM. You master the art of bathing in 3 minutes when there’s no water pressure and exactly one mug left in the bucket.
You survive on Maggi, tea, and whatever is closest to edible in the mess.
You learn to share everything… from class notes to emotional breakdowns.
You walk in slippers through rain, mud, and the occasional ward round.
You wake up five minutes before class and still manage to be (almost) on time.
You study through noise, chaos, homesickness, and sometimes heartbreak.
You become self sufficient without even realizing it.
And most of all, you find your people.
The ones who stick with you during viva disasters, ward postings, and 2 AM existential crises.
By the time you leave the hostel, you’re not the same person who entered.
Youre tougher, sharper, and way more resourceful.

This is so correct! One needs to live in hostel or even alone for that matter to become more aware not just themselves but the surroundings, environment, people, food and everything else. It will also make you feel more grateful to what you already have and gives a sense of responsibility. And bonus, if you’ve a really great group of people with you sharing the hostel, it just makes your life 10x more better.

Even after being a day scholar myself, I can understand and can feel each and everything you have mentioned here.
I have heard lot of experiences of my classmates who lives in the hostel.
However, they amazingly manage and balance all the things. They really need an applause!
