“Herbal Therapies in Psoriasis: Hope, Hype, or Hidden Science?”

Psoriasis is due to dysregulation of the immune system resulting in chronic inflammation of the skin, which causes excessive proliferation of keratinocytes, it is the main cell type found in the epidermis that is the outermost layer of skin, scaling of connective tissues, and reddening of skin.
Curcumin is an active compound present in the turmeric inhibits NF-B signaling which decreases inflammation within the skin. Aloe vera and chamomile both have calming properties that can help alleviate redness and eliminate plaque build-up on the skin; that is, both of these could be described as providing soothing qualities. The Scientific studies show that both aloe vera and chamomile have measurable results in helping to reduce plaque accumulation.
Vitamin D and E play major role in regulating skin cell proliferation and maintaining a balance of immune activity. There are significant variations in outcomes, which may relate to the product about how it was manufactured, the dose taken, and individual variances in patient response.
Herbs can alleviate symptoms of psoriasis; however, they will not correct the underlying pathology. Health care professionals believe that herbal remedies should be used in conjunction with conventional medical treatment, and not as a substitute for conventional medical treatment.

Herbal remedies should be used after proper consultation after verifying the interactions and side effects. It can’t be an exact replacement.

Absolutely agree. Herbal remedies can be helpful, but they should always be used with proper guidance, considering possible interactions and side effects and they’re not a direct substitute for evidence based treatments.

Although these treatments may be effective. I suggest a (SPT) Skin Prick Test and a consultation coordination with immunologist before taking any such herbal supplements.

That’s a valuable suggestion. Proper evaluation like allergy testing and consultation with a specialist can help ensure safety before using herbal supplements, especially in conditions like psoriasis.

In my opinion, an integrative approach combining traditional knowledge with scientific validation may represent the future of psoriasis care.

Informative and still any type of therapies need proper guidance.
