Heat Exhaustion and # Heat Stroke
Summer days are coming and holidays will start soon.Everyone is planning to go out for relaxation,fun and physical activities.However,hot summer days can be harmful to our body.Our body temperature rises and loses a lot of water through sweating,and this can make us feel fatigue, tired,weak.In serious cases, extreme heat exposure can lead to heat stroke, which needsmedical emergency.
Types of Heat Illness:
1)Heat Exhaustion:
Heat Exhaustion is mild condition, caused by excessive sweating and fluid loss.
It presents with weakness,thirst, headache, muscle cramps,nausea, heavy sweating.
It is manageable if treated within 30 minutes.It can be treat with giving proper rest in cooling area to patient and by giving oral rehydration.
2)Heat Stroke
This is life threatening condition.Body temperature rises above 40°C, because of that person may face confusion,altered consciousness, seizures and hot dry skin.Immediate medical treatment is important in this condition.

- Elderly people
- Infants and young children
- Outdoor worker
- People with chronic health conditions
- Athletes
Prevention Tips
- Drink plenty of water in a day
- Avoid going out during peak heat hours
- Wear light ,loose cotton clothes
- Use hat,cap, or umbrella while going out
- Eat light meals
- Avoid alcohol
