How to prevent heatstroke during this Summer?

Heatstroke is a serious condition where our body temperature rises to more than 40°C. Every summer the heat is becoming more unbearable and this year’s summer season is no exception. How can we stay safe?

  • Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is the most effective way. Drink water at regular intervals and don’t wait until you become thirsty, as the risk of dehydration is more. Also, avoid sugar and caffeine as they might dehydrate you more.

  • Recharge with Electrolytes: As we sweat more, electrolytes are lost in excess, so we need to consume more lemon juice, aam panna, coconut water or ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) to keep electrolytes in balance.

  • Stay Indoors: Avoid stepping out in the sun during the peak hours (11 am to 4 pm) as the Sun rays are the most harsh around that time. Always apply sunscreen even while staying indoors.

  • Choose the right fabric: Always go for cotton during Summer season as it is light weight and easier on the skin. Moreover, it helps in the evaporation of sweat quickly. Make sure you are wearing loose clothes to prevent skin rashes and infections.

What are some other tips that can help you survive this summer?

Harsh summers are definitely tough to battle :sun_with_face:  . With the hybrid work setup, it’s now convenient to escape the sun on a few days.

Carrying an umbrella :umbrella: and a bottle of water or lime juice :cup_with_straw: can be of great help especially during commutation. "A much needed post @Pavithra18 ":+1:
