As per news in media, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of India has written to Central government hospitals to “not allow” medical representatives (MRs) in hospital premises.
This is laudable.
What are your thoughts on gifts (bribery, actually) by pharma industry to doctors?
The industries work in tandem.
There is little appreciation for a doctor’s ability to navigate the drug in the field, based on its efficacy and patient safety,
the pharmaceutical sectors may have to recognise the loopholes that lead to such misunderstandings of corruption and bribery.
I think such “gifts” by the pharma industry can definitely cloud judgment and break trust. The DGHS move is positive because it aims to ensure medical decisions are based purely on patient well-being and not commercial influence. It’s about maintaining integrity.
