Gastritis through the Ayurvedic lens

In Ayurveda, gastritis (Amlapitta) often comes from an aggravated Pitta dosha—too much heat in the stomach disturbing digestion. This can lead to burning, acidity, bloating, or nausea.

Cooling and calming the stomach is key:

Favour soft, easy foods like rice gruel (kanji), mung dal khichdi, boiled veggies.

Choose sweet, mild fruits like pomegranate, apple, or ripe banana.

Add cooling herbs—fennel, coriander, cardamom.

A teaspoon of ghee in the morning can soothe the stomach lining.

Avoid triggers—spicy, oily, sour foods; excess tea/coffee; irregular meals.
Simple habits like eating on time, staying calm, and practising cooling breaths (Sheetali pranayama) help keep the fire in balance.

Balanced Pitta = a calm, happy stomach.

Really interesting, Ayurveda’s view of gastritis through Agni and dosha balance shows how digestion isn’t just about food but overall harmony. Simple remedies like fennel, cumin, and mindful eating still work wonders even today.
