The med schools in dramas are fantastic, and this is not how our actual healthcare is. I ain’t saying the healthcare is bad, but where they show up classmates and seniors sitting and chilling . Forget it, the 72 hours of duty sucks you, the unhygienic environment forces you to quit. the toxicity of residents and seniors will make you do suicide . Don’t trust drama guys
I believe one should not pursue a career or a profession just merely on a basis of what is being viewed in a drama.
I also think when it comes to a medical drama though it has inspired people but it has also given a wrong impression.
Few medical dramas have romanticised medicine which is way far from reality.
Especially in India where students take such decisions at an age of 17-19, they are likely to discover later in life that they might have taken an impulsive decision that doesn’t align with them.
Though medical dramas are very entertaining to watch I do agree that they romanticize the hospital life too much. It can be misleading and disappointing for aspiring students.
As a medical professional I feel the medical dramas are inspiring. They help people understand our struggle.Everything has positive and negative narrative but according to me it’s inclined towards positive side.
It is not as all as it seems. Medical dramas/Tv shows often builds up virtual expectations in young people who are new in the healthcare sector, which is quite impossible in the real world setting. Not completely mislead, but they surely deviate young workers from the main course.
