Children usually love to play, run, and explore new things, but in between those events, accidents or falls happen.
Adequate knowledge and awareness are required at that time to manage that situation.
What is Dental Trauma?
Dental trauma refers to injury to the teeth, gums, or surrounding tissues. In children, the most common causes are:

Falls while playing
-
Sports injuries
-
Road accidents
Common types of injuries:
- Chipped or fractured tooth
- Loosened or displaced tooth
- Completely knocked-out tooth (avulsion)
Emergency First Aid (VERY IMPORTANT)
If that is a permanent tooth—
- Hold the top (crown) of the tooth; avoid touching the root part
- Rinse it with tap water
- Keep it in milk or saliva to save the tooth
- Visit the dentist as soon as possible
- Try to keep the tooth back in the socket
If that is a primary tooth-
- milk tooth does not need reimplantation.’
- Injuries can impact permanent teeth
- Visit the dentist as soon as possible
Remember: Awareness today can prevent permanent damage tomorrow. Share this with parents and caregivers—you might help save a child’s smile!
