Today one of my relative said that I have tooth pain so I took a nail with some mantras and insert that nail on peepal tree so my pain relieved.
When I told her that this can’t be true, you are wrong…so she argued with me.
What should I do in this type of situation??
Two out of five people are very difficult to talk to when it comes to explaining medical importance of anything in our country.
In such scenarios you need to remember to keep a very cool head and smile.
If it were me I would congratulate them on the pain relief and let them believe it, but immediately Gently advise what they should rather do in place of repeating it. And additionally, explain what are the horrific consequences of ignoring it henceforth.
Most of the time silence is the best answer to such situations if these are really helping them to relieve their symptoms - as the conversation can become difficult to handle.
But if we really want to address such situation, we can take a different approach like - “Great to know that it really help you but along with that if you will take the medical treatment it will help you even faster to relieve your symptoms”
For some people their faith makes them heal faster, it sounds like blind faith but it’s more like manifesting probably. I am not saying they are right, but it’s their belief that making them feel that something has happened.
You never know he/she might have used clove oil- Eugenol which might have reduce their pain. It’s more like Placebo effect.
Again I am not favouring this, but you can’t argue with all people,”it’s like a moo point”(just wanted to use this phrase-pardon me ), so just say ‘Great, good for you’ and leave.
Seriously one of my relative also said something like that, that they went to some priest amd he poured oil into his ear and then took that oil out with some small living creatures and then the tooth healed and when i argued back that this cant be possible they refused to take that
When beliefs are rooted in tradition or emotion, facts alone may not change someone’s mind—at least not right away.
Better stay silent some people just doesn’t want to listen they are like they are the only right ones, so save your energy
The constitution of India says that we as citizens ought to develop scientific temper. So you were right in propagating the logic. Instilling Scientific temperament is a slow and arduous process. Being students of science, it is incumbent upon us to talk logic. Good job!
