Body Weight Training v/s Mechanical Weight Training?

To strengthen the body, People either uses -

  1. Body Weight Exercises - Use Body as a weight

  2. Mechanical devices - like therabands, dumbbells, pulleys, etc.

Which is the most effective way to strengthen the body in comparison of the both?

If a person want to start the strengthening exercises, then how and from where an individual can start with?

In my experience, my physiotherapist had guided me on building strength with my own body weight, then proceeded to weights- ankle weights-1kg, 2kgs and then 3kgs., Dumbbells with the same gradual weight increase… resistance bands are integrated after strength has been satisfactorily built.

By starting with body weight one can shift to strength training exercises by adding extra weights or bands.

Body weight training helps to build foundational core strength and endurance and heavy weights workouts will help in muscle growth and strength build-up.
