All pharmacy students in their would have been thinking about b.pharma and d.pharma like what are the difference between them…
Personally I have lot of friends who asked me after completion of high school that what will you choose b.pharma or d.pharma so let’s talk about each of them respectively
B.pharma - simply during this course you will learn all things about the medicine and industry of pharmacy who do they work and how medicine are made , the laws of pharmacy and other all … And after completion of this course you can do dispensing, adulteration and what ever you want to do with pharmaceuticals line but ethically
D.pharma - whereas in this you have 2 years to learn dispensing mainly and other small things about medicine
Confusing - what to choose
It’s not that much confusing, you just have to understand where you want to go , what you want to do , if you want to go in R&D then you should go for b .pharma and if your main motto is to start a chemist/medicine dispensary shop then do d.pharma … Just remember you can do anything a d.pharma student can do after b.pharma . But can’t go in some field after d.pharma …
It doesn’t mean d.pharma is less worthy it’s just about the student
Bachelor of pharmacy( 4 years )and diploma in pharmacy ( 2 years ) both are different in diploma pharmacy students learns from basics and in Bachelor of pharmacy students learn after basics. In b pharm basics is not guide or teach to students. This is my opinion
I believe both B.Pharma and D.Pharma are worth, really one has to know what he/she is doing. Research or Industry job aspirants will be better off with B.Pharma & Running own pharmacy is much easier by doing D.Pharma.
You are right , just one things is not correct that you learn basic in d.pharma …you do learn detailed about everything but some part is not syllabus of d.pharma
After completing high school the B. Pharm is better option over D. Pharm as it is a four year degree program and it offers you the knowledge about whole pharmaceutical industry. And you can enter the pharmaceutical industry in the various departments like research, development or manufacturing, etc. whereas d pharm is a good option for the individual who want the quick entry into retail pharmacy or dispensing maeducation.
•D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy) is a 2-year program that prepares students for roles in retail pharmacies and basic drug dispensing. It’s ideal for those looking for quick job entry or planning to pursue B.Pharm later.
•B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) is a 4-year degree offering deeper knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences, with career options in industry, hospitals, research, and higher studies.
D pharmacy is 2years course and b pharmacy is 4 years course while d pharmacy is useful for running pharmacy while b pharmacy graduates work in a industry, hospital sector and clinical trials Regulatory affairs and many other opportunity
I’ve done D and currently pursuing B. Pharmacy as a 4th yr student. So, I can say that D was mostly practical based and B is less practical but more theory based course.
I think the syllabus for B. Pharmacy needs to be Updated, as it doesn’t teaches us much of current industrial needs.
There are lots of things which make many different between b pharmacy and d pharmacy and they have some common thing . it’s totally depends upon students which course they want to choose according to there aim or where they want to do job .
I Want to highlight that, after completing Bpharm no one can do adulteration of the products as it’s ethically wrong under Drug and cosmetics act & rule 1940. But rather can perform quality control and drug testing to avoid adulterated products. Both the fields have many similarities with the choice matters on an individual to what they want to pursue.
Brother adulteration is not bad in all case some phyto constitution have same effect and bioavailability but at cheap price so it’s legal to use it in replace of expensive one specially in India where people want everything at affordable price …
