With the rising using of ChatGPT and AI, somewhere I feel human connections have vanished.
People have started communicating emotions, downfalls of life, stressful situation to the ChatGPT. It’s not wrong to share a stressful situation to it but it shouldn’t become like dependency .
People are busy, sometimes we may not be able to talk to the person we look for and for a relief we share the stressful situations to AI which surely has consoling words and empathetic words to our situation.
But, somewhere, the emotional connection or comfort of real human is buried under the consoling words of AI .
We often forget that it’s a machine or system working based on the prompts you give but whereas real communication with a friend or any person in based on emotional intelligenc e.
Honestly, I have caught myself talking to ChatGPT like talking to a real frie nd.
AI/ChatGPT can be a friend but it can’t replace a real hu man.
What’s your opinion? Are we somewhere really losing the Human communication to the comfort and opinions from a ChatGPT o r AI?
Somewhat, we are losing the human connection. At the end of the day, we may feel relieved, but it can’t replace human presence and human connection. Human connection is related to our need for belonging. We as humans possess a need for belonging. Chat GPT cannot replace belonging. It can help us cope sometimes, but cannot be a permanent saviour
I do believe we are losing the human connection. People prefer talking to ChatGPT whenever a problem arises rather than talking to a human. ChatGPT has become a free therapist.
I believe that people now depends on AI too much. They ask little things like make me a routine, what should I eat, etc. But I don’t think people will ever forget what real human emotions are. As these AI have certain limits also. To one extent, they’ll stop giving responses, and eventually people do need their friends and family by their side
I believe it’s all about accessibility. I’m ashamed to say that an AI model who regulates on your instructions is more accessible to human being than any other human or a friend in case. Many people donot reach out to peers for emotional assistance and support, rather rely on a machine to talk to. Grave times we live in.
With advanced technology of AI having answer to all question people tend to use it just to try it but gradually become dependent on it. Today’s world humans are busy in working and lacks time to listen or solve other problems. Overtime there is communication gap given busy lifestyle and AI giving apt answers people feel happy with it and gets dependent over it. AI in all ways is gradually replacing human touch and developing dependency for every small task.
It’s true that people have started using AI like friends and therapists but I see a silver lining to it as well.
I, myself, can think of so many occasions when I felt like nobody could understand my state of mind at a particular moment which was intense and you don’t have access to non-judgemental, wise people/therapists in everyday situations, so I felt like talking to AI and feeling a little less lonely and a bit more understood helps humans cope in this world full of stress and anxiety.
But as long as we aren’t exploiting it, it’s beneficial. Like everything else, when we start exploiting it, we’ll see poor consequences.
maybe the real question is not whether AI can imitate empathy, but whether modern life has become so lonely that people are willing to seek comfort wherever they can find it. Technology may offer words, but belonging has always been a profoundly human experience
There is a big gap between human communication and which feels like you have no one to share something you want and in that anxiety people are shifting towards AI as they want somebody to just listen and console them or give a solution. And i think one of the major reason behind this gap is the competition among each other.
