The patient complained softisue infesction for which the physician prescribed linezolid 600 mg twice a day.
After 2 days,the patient complained of sudden tachycardia, tachypnea, severe hypertension and hyperthermia. The patient died of serotonin syndrome.
Discussion: linezolid is a MOA inhibitor, sertraline is a serotonin reuptake inhibitorincreasing serotonin lvl causing fatal serotonin syndrome.
The combination of linezolid with SSRI in contraindicated.!
