1 day Menstrual leave policy in college and work place

Yes, I totally agree with the idea. At least 2 days of leaves should be given during the menstrual cycle. Its about understanding women, respecting women’s health and creating most supportive academic/workplace environment.

Fully agree; very often the symptoms are so severe that getting any work done becomes next to impossible!

I would totally agree. It’s high time we acknowledge a biological reality which involves cramping, sever pain and discomfort. Providing a day off will reduce the stigma attached around menstrual as well.

I surely agree on that, as many schools and colleges in Uttar Pradesh are also doing practice for the welfare of female faculty and girls of their institutions.

I think it should be made optional, just like how maternity leaves are. It should be a paid leave, and it’s not like you can accumulate every month’s to use it for a holiday or anything. It should be claimed within the month to avoid misuse.

I also stand for this argument. I myself have fallen unconscious due to menstrual cramps while attending a practical class. At least a provision to sit for some time itself is very helpful

Absolutely agree. :cherry_blossom: Dear Girls :girl:

A one-day menstrual leave isn’t about privilege, it’s about empathy and physiology. That first day can be brutal, especially during long postings or shifts. Resting that one day means returning healthier and more productive. It’s time institutions recognize that.

I vouch not only for one day off for menstrual leave but also that one should have the autonomy to take a day off for mental health purposes, just to unwind, have a slow lazy day, eat, sleep, and reset our bodies to be more energetic for the next day.

Yes its a good idea, I definitely agree women should get leave for 1 day to prepare herself and to keep herself motivated.

Menstrual experiences vary from person to person, but for those who experience severe discomfort, having the option of a menstrual leave day could be a valuable step toward supporting health and well-being.

I think the idea has merit, especially for individuals who experience severe menstrual symptoms such as intense cramps, fatigue, migraines, or heavy bleeding that can significantly affect productivity and concentration. At the same time, flexibility may be more practical than a mandatory policy for everyone, since menstrual experiences vary widely. The focus should be on creating supportive workplaces and colleges that recognize menstrual health as a genuine health concern rather than a taboo topic.

I think menstrual leave should be based on individual needs rather than being mandatory for everyone. Not every woman experiences the same symptoms ,some may have severe cramps, fatigue, or other symptoms that make it difficult to work or attend classes, while others may feel little to no discomfort. A flexible policy that allows those who genuinely need rest to take leave would be more practical and inclusive.

Menstrual pain differ from women to women. Menstrual leave policy is very much needed and basic. It should be implemented in every workspaces and colleges. A day off isn’t just a leave, its a time of proper rest given to the body and mind.

It’s a good move .. Every Women especially who are working in the construction and manufacturing sectors should get it.

I totally agree. Menstrual leave should be available as an option, not an obligation. The goal is not special treatment but recognizing that health needs differ among individuals. A supportive environment allows people to perform better when they return.

Yes, I do agree that menstrual leave should be provided. All women go through PMS symptoms. Every body is unique and different. For some women, these symptoms can be really challenging to deal with. Changes in hormones have an impact on both physical and mental health. A few women also go through PMDD, which can cause distress and affect routine. 1 day of menstrual leave and the policy can be helpful. Our health and body also need rest and space to recover from hormonal changes. Some are able to deal with symptoms, but for others, it can cause difficulties. Women who go through a difficult time during menses can surely make use of menstrual leave. After all, self-care is not selfish. Using menstrual leave as an option can be considered. I do support the menstrual leave policy.
