World Obesity Day 2026

With so many health problems prevalent in the world, one of the most common health challenges is Obesity.

Obesity can be defined as the abnormal or excessive accumulation of fat in the body, which poses a health risk. As the modern world has different varieties of food, junk foods are the primary source of obesity. Burgers, pizza, pasta, noodles, and the list goes on. These names only stimulate the person’s hormones, I guess.

Waist-Hip Ratio:

The waist-hip ratio is one of the best markers for obesity. It is calculated by dividing the waist circumference by the hip circumference. It should be less than 0.9 for men and less than 0.8 for women. The waist is measured at the narrowest part, and hips are measured at the fullest part.

Risk of Systemic Diseases:

Obesity is linked to diseases like Diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular problems, hypertension, etc.

Childhood Obesity:

Childhood obesity is on the rise, and it has to be given more importance because it might hamper the health and mental status of the child.
