Working as a Doctor in UAE

Recognized Medical Degree

  • Your MBBS must be from a university recognized by WHO or FAIMER.
  • MBBS outside the UAE, the degree should also be listed with the UAE Ministry of Education or equivalent.

Completion of Internship

  • A one-year clinical internship is mandatory.
  • Some UAE universities include internship within the MBBS program.
  • MBBS abroad :- the internship must be from a recognize hospital or university.

Licensing Exams

  1. DHA (Dubai Health Authority)
  2. DOH/HAAD (Department of Health – Abu Dhabi)
  3. MOHAP (Ministry of Health and Prevention)

Eligibility

  • MBBS degree
  • Internship certificate
  • English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL sometimes)
  • Good standing certificate from the medical council of the home country
  • Transcripts and clinical training details
  • Sometime it is required to have 2 years of clinical experience after internship

To Improve Job Prospects

  • Get Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified
  • Gain clinical experience
  • Complete Dataflow verification early to avoid delays
  • UAE friendly LinkedIn profile
  • Hospital internships or observerships
