Why stress management is important for your body?

Stress is often just considered as a feeling one goes through while experiencing a tough situation. And, most people just stay stuck with this feeling without regulating it positively.

Science says stress isn’t just a feeling, but a physiological - ‘fight’ or ‘flight’ response of body. Hence, during stress our heart rate and blood pressure goes up, digestion slows downs, immune action is suppressed and cortisol levels rise.

Chronic stress puts our body into a constant ‘fight’ or ‘flight’ response. Thus, stress gets stored in body and manifests as muscle tension, aches, digestive issues or chronic, autoimmune diseases.

Therefore, stress management is important for one’s mental, physical and emotional health.

One should develop positive stress management techniques, like:

  • Conscious breathing
  • Practicing Mindfulness
  • Spending time in nature
  • Light physical activity
  • Having a hobby
  • Connecting with people
  • Taking help from professional, when needed

These stress management techniques shifts our body from sympathetic to parasympathetic nervous system and helps bring our body parameters at normal level.

So, take control over your stress, to lead a better and healthy life.

How do you deal with stress in a positive way?
