Why Part-Time Jobs Are Normal Abroad but Still Problematic for Students in India

Among the things that have always caught my attention is the way that part-time jobs are perceived in India, which is not the case in many other nations. In such nations as the USA, the UK, Canada, and Australia, it is a normal, responsible, and even encouraged part-time employment as a student. Students control their studies, costs, and employment without being evaluated. Part-time employment, however, is very much considered a menace or extra burden in studies in India. Most students are put into a position where they are made to believe that if they are working, then they cannot be serious in academics. Such an attitude brings on unwarranted guilt and stress.

The distinction is, to a large degree, in the system. In the foreign country, universities do develop flexible hours, strict working hours, and legal procedures that safeguard students. Academic commitments are valued by employers, and students are trained early on in terms of time management and independence.

In India, the majority of academic timetables are strict. Balancing work and school is not easy because of the long lecture hours, odd schedules, and absence of organized student assignments. A lot of part-time employment is not formal, unregulated, and not empowering but depleting. Mindset is another significant contribution. Student jobs in most countries are considered to be character-building- responsible, communicative, and economically fit. Part-time employment is mostly associated with financial hardship instead of development in India.

However, the contemporary students are different. Part-time employment is pursued by many people because of monetary reasons, experience, and independence. Indian students can also juggle work and school like any other students in the world, as long as correct systems, lenient academic systems, and conducive attitudes are established.

It is not a sign of weakness to work during the period of studying since it is a form of preparing to face reality.

What are your thoughts on this ? Do you think India should create more part time job opportunities for students ?
