Why Do Students With the Most Skills Often Have the Worst CGPA?

I’ve seen some of the most creative, research-driven, and practically skilled students struggle with marks, while rote learners top the class. Is our evaluation system outdated?

I think our education system and evaluation gives more emphasis on theoretical knowledge rather than practical knowledge and skillset. So, the one who falls behind in theoretical understanding may get lower grades in total. It is high time our system gets updated and gives equal importance to both theory and practical knowledge.

I think our education and evaluation system way backwards and lacks to the today’s global standards and it need to be rectified. Our education and evaluation system is only write ,read and vomit it in the exam paper and easily gets passed no practical knowledge is needed anymore

Our education system and evaluation system focus on theortical knowledge rather than practical knowledge. So therefore the student who has less theortical knowledge is left behind. Our Education System need to focus more on pratical Knowledge

A low CGPA doesn’t mean low potential. It often reflects a system that’s not built to recognize all kinds of intelligence. Some of the most impactful people in the world were average on paper but exceptional in practice. Your CGPA is just a number. Your skills are your real currency. Don’t let the system define your worth rewrite the script in your own language.

Yes, it does feel outdated. When marks reward memorization over understanding, it fails to reflect a student’s true potential. Creative and research driven learners often think deeper and apply knowledge better, but that’s not always measured in traditional exams.

Instead of focusing solely on academics, they often prioritize exploration and skill development.

Yes, it often feels like our system rewards memory over understanding. Skilled and creative student deserve better recognition. It’s time we rethink how we measure true learning.

Those who have practical knowledge more than theory / book knowledge will face this situation.

Yes ,I think our education system focus much on theortical knowledgerather then practical knowledge . Most of colleges they even don’t even have practical class room to conduct practical class , then how can a student gain skill and improve his skills in practicals . Our education system should be rectified and alot most of practical studies in education system .

This has been my experience in UG. I struggled with theory but learning things practically, I was able to retain information for longer. With increasing cases of ADHD in our generation, I think our education system needs to evolve according to student needs.

It’s telling that students with strong practical skills often under‐perform on CGPA our system seems to reward memorisation over real competence. Time for a rethink.

I would not say it’s outdated. The first concept should be clear, as it comes from theory, but practical knowledge is just as important as theoretical understanding.

Yes, our evaluation system often rewards memorization over understanding, creativity, and practical skills. It needs reform to better measure critical thinking and real-world problem-solving rather than rote recall.

There needs to be have a robust change in the education system so that the evaluation can be done fairly on the basis of capabilities and skillfulness of each and every student.

Yes, I do feel that our education system is outdated.
This is so because our education system is mostly based on theoretical knowledge and does not emphasize on practical knowledge. Due to which the students with the most skills often end up having the worst or moderate CGPA.
