Herbal and traditional remedies are widely used for immunity, weight loss, digestion, stress relief, and many other health concerns.
Because these products are “natural,” many people believe they are automatically safe and free from side effects.
However, some herbal products may still interact with prescription medicines, affect liver or kidney function, or create problems when taken in excess or without proper guidance.
This made me realize that “natural” does not always mean “risk-free,” and every form of treatment should be used responsibly.
Question:
Do you think awareness about the safe use of herbal medicines is sufficient among the public?
I think awareness is still limited because many people assume herbal medicines are completely safe without knowing about possible side effects or drug interactions.
I feel there is lack of awareness about herbal medicine.. patient just thought that it’s completely safe and takes haphazardly But doesn’t think that if regulated molecules having it’s side effect them how should this bunch of molecules is safe without side effects..There is need of awareness that everything has side effects of taken beyond certain limits.
Awareness about safe use of herbal medicine is insufficient but there is imperative need of doing so. We can see many people selling tonics and formulations, labelled as herbal medicine and people buy those because of the natural tag .One must understand that even natural medicine can have side effects and those can be equally harmful as that produced by any other medicine.
Yess, even in small cities people literally take it like anything and bebelive in this like god, they need an awareness about tge risks that it can cause
Very true. Many people associate “natural” with completely harmless, which is not always correct. Herbal products can also have side effects or interactions if used improperly. I think public awareness about their safe and evidence-based use is still quite limited and definitely needs more attention.
I don’t think awareness is enough yet. Many people assume that if something is herbal, it can’t cause harm. Better patient education and open discussions with healthcare professionals can help people use these products more safely.
