I’ve noticed that many patients become uncomfortable when they hear they need to continue a medicine for months or even years.
Some worry about “dependency,” while others fear side effects or long-term damage to the body. In many cases, they stop treatment without even discussing it with their doctor or pharmacist.
It made me realize how important trust and proper counseling are in healthcare.
How can healthcare professionals make patients feel more confident about long-term treatments?

I totally agree with you, Nowadays its very commonly seen that patient does not trust the doctor easily which is a good thing- they are being aware about there health and treatment, but sometimes they did not continue the medication treatment which can be harmful, to avoid such situation where the patient does not rely on the doctor’s treatment the doctor needs to counsel the patient regarding treatment and its effect on the problem to gain the trust of the patient for proper treatment.
For this patient-doctor relationship plays a key role in managing this kind of problem through-
-
Trust building
-
Comfort
-
Effective communication
-
Empathy
A good PDR makes patients consult first with doctors about every outcome and indication of medicine before making self-decisions.
Yes, I agree. Many people fear long-term medicines, but they should never stop without consulting a doctor. Healthcare professionals should explain the benefits and risks clearly to build patients confidence.
