Pharm. MBA mainly focuses on pharmaceutical sector whereas Core MBA has broader opportunities and offer versatility.
Which one will you choose?
It really depends on your career vision:
Pharma MBA → Best if you want to stay rooted in the healthcare & pharmaceutical industry (roles in marketing, regulatory affairs, sales, hospital management, pharma consultancy). It’s more specialized but less versatile.
Core MBA → Opens doors to multiple industries (finance, IT, consulting, supply chain, FMCG). It’s broader and gives you more flexibility if you ever want to shift sectors.
Think of it this way: Pharma MBA = depth in one industry, Core MBA = breadth across industries.
If you’re passionate about healthcare/pharma, Pharma MBA is a smart bet. If you want to keep options wide open, Core MBA wins.

I believe core MBA is much better in terms of opportunities, and overall growth but it is highly competative and also expensive to get a seat in top IIMs. Whereas the pharma MBA is domain specific, less growth when compared to core MBA but it is less competative . ultimately the choice depends on goal of the individual.
