Diet plays a crucial role in maintaining our health but we still fail?
According to WHO, the basic principles of what constitutes a healthy diet are described in four principles:
Adequacy: meets, without exceeding, micronutrient and macronutrient needs such that deficiencies are prevented;
Balance: total energy intake is balanced with energy expenditure, with an adequate balance across the three primary sources of energy, protein, fats and carbohydrates;
Moderation: limited intake of nutrients, ingredients, and foods that may be detrimental to health;
Diversity: inclusion of a wide variety of nutritious foods within and across food groups.
Diets embracing these four core principles promote health throughout the life course. Busy schedules, skipped breakfast, late night junk food consumptions and the social media food hype that makes the people preventing from balancing the diet.
Everyone older than 10 years of age should aim for at least 400 grams of fruits and vegetables per day, but ask yourself a question, Are you consuming 400gms of fruits and veggies every day?
If you are then you are balancing your work-diet well but if not then you know why.
Due to Busy schedules, irregular timelines, fast food convenience and mental fatigue are the major causes we ignore the diet and basic exercises that keeps our body healthy. Long hours or meetings and deadlines in completing the target in offices makes people mentally exhausted enough that people get tired and prefer what’s easily available like fast food or convenience store food. This can lead to weight gain and obesity and also cause people diseases and fall ill very often.
Conclusion
While maintaining a healthy diet seem a little bit challenging but daily making a consistent habit of eating healthy food and not skipping meals can help you manage the work- health balance.
