What Extra Skills or Certifications Do Biotech Recruiters Look For?

What certifications actually add value to a biotech resume?

In my perspective, more than certifications, learn to be robust in your laboratory skills. ex: PCR, cell culture, the basics and the ones you can learn from your uni or internships.

Nudge your professors, get involved in the practicals… stay a bit in the after hours of uni… learn as much you can from them… if an instrument doesn’t work urge the authorities to get it repaired and work on them

Apart from that learn your theory and apply practically…

Do out-house internships to gain external experience beyond your uni

Biotech recruiters will look for your theory knowledge and how you can solve an issue with your practical skills more than the certifications
For example, you can say that you have worked on ‘XYZ’ in your college or at your internships. (add this in your resumé instead of the certifications)

Later, they might train you in the industry, and you can get certificates for the same, but as a fresher just be thorough with what you learn theoretically or practically
