Tips for undergraduates for their first RCT

The theory part youll college will guide you.
A few practical tips from my own
first-time experience:

  1. Make yourself comfortable. Adjust your chair position so you have a clear view of the
    working area.

  2. Set up your tray properly. Arrange all your instruments before you start. Be careful when
picking and placing them — a small slip can spill everything, and those tiny files are hard to
    find once dropped.

3.Stay relaxed and calm. It might not go perfectly — that’s okay. What matters is that you
understand each step and don’t rush through it.

Remember: Your first RCT is not about perfection. It’s about learning.

I still remember my first RCT case in a 12 year old girl’s 46 & all the jitters during the procedure, specifically while getting the working length radiograph, I was so scared. Thankfully the little girl was so co-operative that it eased out the procedure.

Great tips!

Great advice! Starting your first RCT can feel intimidating, but staying relaxed, organizing your instruments, and focusing on learning rather than perfection makes the experience much smoother. Small mistakes are part of the process, what matters is understanding each step.

I agree. calmness is very important. i was very nervous during my first RCT. If nerves have gotten the better of you though, what helps is, to always go slow with your aerotor at first. later you’ll get a bit more confidence as you approach the pulp chamber.
