The Rise of AI Doctors : Threat to MBBS or a Powerful Tool?

Artificial Intelligence in healthcare is advancing fast AI can now read X-rays, predict diseases, and even suggest treatments with accuracy comparable to doctors.

For MBBS students and doctors, this raises a big question:

Is AI going to replace doctors in the future?

Or will it just become an assistant tool to help doctors make better decisions?

Pros of AI in medicine:

  • Faster diagnosis
  • Reduced human error
  • Helps in rural/remote areas with doctor shortages

Cons/Concerns:

  • Loss of clinical judgment if over-reliance occurs
  • Ethical issues around liability (if AI makes a mistake)
  • Could reduce demand for certain specialties

What do you think?

Do you see AI as a partner in healthcare or a threat to MBBS careers?

We shouldn’t totally rely on AI diagnostic tool but with the assistance of it we could get more clear vision about the disease and help to find out the treatment for the same

AI is indeed transforming the face of healthcare. From diagnosing diseases to personalizing treatment regimen to robotics assisted surgeries, AI is revolutionizing the healthcare. But we cannot blindly trust AI with our health and is never a replacement for the doctors. However, it can be definitely used as an assistive tool for the healthcare professionals to improve patient care and diagnosis.

AI can’t replace doctors, but it can definitely support them in diagnosis and treatment.

AI is the good option for the early detection and diagnosis and better treatment but it can’t replace a doctor .it can be used as a powerful tool gor supporting doctors

I think, AI in healthcare is definitely powerful, but it cannot fully replace doctors. Human touch, empathy, and clinical judgment are things AI can never provide. Instead, AI works best as a supportive tool – speeding up diagnosis, reducing errors, and helping in areas with fewer doctors. In the end, it’s not ‘AI vs doctors’ but ‘AI with doctors’ that will shape the future of medicine.

AI doctors are growing fast and some people worry they might replace MBBS doctors. But really, AI is not here to take jobs away. AI helps doctors by giving quick info, finding diseases early, and suggesting treatments. It’s more like a powerful tool that makes doctors’ work easier and better, not a threat. MBBS doctors still needed for care, judgment, and human touch. So, AI and doctors together can help patients more.

Ai will be helpful for the doctors in the treatment and diagnosis but it cannot completely replace the doctors for sure.

AI can be a powerful assistant to support our clinical judgment but will not be a replacement for doctors and their experience in clinical practice.

AI can for instance help us document faster and better while we focus more on patient care.

I personally don’t really like the idea of AI in medicine but it will undeniably be useful in diagnostics.

AI is 100% a partner to doctors. Doctors are overworked everywhere and having an AI assistance will help reduce the workload. Completely relying on AI is a far fetched idea but over time maybe we can rely on the accuracy of the data.

While AI is undoubtedly transforming healthcare, but it can’t replace doctors. Medicine needs empathy, judgement and human connection which cannot be replaced by any algorithm. It might tell which specific drug to be given in which disease but it can never replicate the Psychology of Clinician’s Touch. Therefore, AI should be seen as an assistant that enhances accuracy and efficiency, not a threat to medical careers.

Interesting perspective. With the advent of AI, tremendous research has occurred into developing machine learning models to help with the diagnosis and prognosis of various disorders. Hence AI can be a great tool for doctors.

AI definitely is a powerful and productive tool, but has to be used with caution. The doctor’s skills matter more importantly than the work of AI.

The other day I was trying to create an image to show deep grooves and fissures on occlusal (chewing) surface of molar teeth using an AI tool. Here is the image created

It should be used carefully as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for clinical expertise.

What do you think ,can technology enhance understanding without replacing a doctor’s expert eye?

I see AI primarily as a partner in healthcare, not a replacement for doctors. While AI can speed up diagnosis, reduce errors, and improve access in underserved areas, the human elements of medicine like clinical judgment, empathy, ethics, and patient communication can’t be fully replicated, so doctors will remain central, with AI serving as a powerful tool to enhance their decisions.

AI isn’t a threat it’s a partner. It can analyze faster and reduce errors, but it can’t replace human judgment, empathy, or ethical reasoning. The future belongs to doctors who embrace AI, not fear it. It’s time we learn to work with technology, not compete against it.

AI should be used as an aid to fecilitate treatment for patients and is seen as a partner in healthcare. It cannot overrule the empathy, patient communication and ethics. A doctor’s oath after all, is to serve humanity.

AI can be used as a tool to quick fasten the process under the guidance of a proper physician, but it should not be allowed to work and diagnose anonymously as it may be life threatening to any.

AI isn’t here to replace doctors it’s here to empower them. The smartest move is to learn how to work with AI, not fear it. It’s a tool, not a threat.

If not implemented in cautious manner, then AI can prove to be a threat to MBBS careers. But, if it is utilized constructively, keeping the human intellect intact, then it can be a great partner in healthcare and medical sciences.
