Doctors role in 2035

I often wonder what the doctor’s role will look like in 2035. Will doctors role be crucial or AI will change the medical field from what we see today.

Medical education has traditionally focused on mastering anatomy, physiology, pathology, and clinical reasoning. But today AI can interpret medical images, summarize clinical notes, predict disease risks, and assist in treatment planning within seconds. While AI can process enormous amounts of data with speed and precision, it cannot truly experience empathy, earn trust through genuine human connection, or navigate the emotional complexity of difficult conversations.

Rather than viewing AI as a competitor, medical graduates should see it as an intelligent clinical assistant. These capabilities of AI can allow physicians to devote more time to listening, examining, educating, and caring for their patients. Physicians of 2035 must therefore become skilled not only in medicine but also in interpreting AI-generated insights, recognizing their limitations, and making independent clinical judgments. Technology should inform decisions—not replace professional responsibility. The future doctor will also require competencies like Digital literacy, data interpretation, ethical decision-making, cybersecurity awareness, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Every generation of doctors has adapted to transformative changes—from antibiotics and organ transplantation to minimally invasive surgery and genomic medicine. AI represents another milestone in medicine’s evolution rather than its endpoint.

The future of medicine is not Human or AI. It is Human and AI—working together to deliver safer, smarter, and more compassionate healthcare.

In the upcoming technological advancement era of 2035 or even beyond, there will be an inevitable need for trained professionals to make judgments regarding disease treatment and health-related concerns, even if the healthcare technology may have progressed beyond our comprehension in the current generation. From the beginning of humans’ consciousness regarding health until the end of humanity, there will be a need for doctors, who are the backbone of humanity’s welfare. As machines can’t develop sympathy for patients, which doctors can do. AI can’t recognize human emotions, which doctors can. Thus, absolutely in the near future or beyond it, until the eternity of humans, there will be a need for doctors!

No matter how advanced AI becomes, humans will still choose to visit a physician because nothing can replace a physician’s empathy, care and compassion
