There is a huge difference between studying dentistry and the actual feeling of being a dentist or healthcare professional.
A syllabus makes you learn basics about your subject and profession. And clinical exposure makes you the one who can help patients with their well-being.
This is not just regarding diagnosis and treatment plan. It includes trust, responsibility, empathy, and compliance toward patients.
For me, this feeling came when I had my first complete denture patient. As it included multiple visits, the 70-year-old male patient kept trust in me and my treatment.
Every visit that bond and feeling of family become stronger and make me feel YES! This is the best achievement.
This experience makes me realize that healthcare is not just completing treatment; it’s about making patients feel heard, safe, and cared for.

A very genuine reflection—especially the shift from learning procedures to understanding responsibility and patient trust. Moments like these really define what it means to be in healthcare, beyond just clinical work.

During my internship posting in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, I treated a lady with a grossly decayed tooth and poor periodontal support, which was indicated for extraction. After administering local anaesthesia, I completed the extraction in about 10–15 minutes.
While giving postoperative instructions and medications, she held my hand and started crying. She said she had been extremely anxious and fearful of pain since the previous day and throughout her journey to the hospital. She thanked me for making the procedure painless.
That moment is something I will never forget.
It reminded me of incident, when senior doctor was not in clinic for somedays and I was doing an extraction, pt was in fear that she is less experienced , she asked me she can come tommrow,
Before I could have answered, my another patien whose RCT was done by me…replied that "She is a good doctor, U can trust her.
I was so happy , that moment felt like all the hardwork paid off.
