The Checkups You’re Skipping (And Why That’s Risky)

• Annual physicals are something we often skip when we feel fine. The thing is, many health issues like high blood pressure or diabetes do not show any symptoms at first.

Annual physicals are really important because they help us find out if we have any health problems on.

• Dental checkups are also very important because our oral health is connected to heart disease.

A lot of times we put off going to the dentist because we are busy.

Dental checkups should not be the thing we cut from our schedules.

• Eye exams are another thing we should not forget about.

Our vision can change slowly over time.

Regular eye exams can help us catch any problems with our eyes like diabetes and glaucoma on.

Eye exams are crucial for our health.

• Mental health screenings are just as important as checkups.

For some reason people are still embarrassed to talk about their mental health.

Mental health screenings should not be something we’re afraid to do.

Which of these things like physicals or dental checkups or eye exams or mental health screenings do you or people you know tend to put off and why do you think that is?

One of the biggest barriers is that preventive care has no immediate reward. We often wait for symptoms, forgetting that the goal of screening is to detect disease before symptoms appear.

It’s true, we always wait for symptoms and any illness to occur for a checkup or consultation. But we often skip the annual checkup, thinking I don’t have any illness, so why should I go for a checkup now?

Preventive care is the biggest cure of every problem.
Regular checkup is the way for good prognosis of the disease, but yes i do not prefer regular screenings like xray and all because at certain point they can cause harm, if physical checkup shows the need then its okk otherwise i avoid.
