What measures should be taken to regulate fertility clinics and protect vulnerable women from exploitation in surrogacy arrangements?
The government should strictly check and monitor all fertility clinics. Every clinic must be registered and follow clear rules. Surrogate women should get full information and legal help before any agreement. Strict punishment should be given to those who cheat or sell babies. This will help protect poor women from being used and keep the process safe for everyone.
First of all I feel doctor who involved should have minimum ethics as human being and I’m felt really sad for parents after knowing about this incident . I think there should be report suspicious clinics, awareness and education so we can stop or eradicate this issue
Imagine the gut-wrenching moment a hopeful couple discovers the child they’ve poured their love and savings into isn’t biologically theirs, but rather a baby bought from another family in a cruel trafficking scheme. This isn’t just a headline; it’s a story of shattered dreams and heartless exploitation, unfolding in the Secunderabad surrogacy scam. It’s a stark reminder of how deeply personal desires can be twisted into a horrifying betrayal.
When individuals are unable to conceive naturally but desire to have a child, they often turn to surrogacy. If fraudulent activities occur within this process, it represents a grave injustice to those involved.
To protect oneself, it is crucial to select a fertility clinic with care and remain vigilant throughout the entire procedure. This is the proactive measure we can take.
Furthermore, it is imperative that the government implements stringent measures to combat these fraudulent practices, including thorough inspections of all relevant clinics to prevent any form of malpractice.
Yes I have also heard about that ,the centre called as shrusti fertility centre in Secunderabad was buying barbies from poor family and selling them to other family who wanted a child , and pretending that they do IVF …..
What step should be taken can’t be said clearly cause problems like this can be only solved by changing the mind of them …. But the proper checking throughout the time and more transperancy should be given to the government, healthcare and other authority and to those also who are waiting for a baby…
I think strict action should be taken against who does this kind of crime like selling babies and government should provide proper counselling and medical care for surrogates
This Secunderabad incident examination has been revealed that how a fertility clinic illegally bought babies from poor women and sold them to couples under the false pretense of surgery. The clinic has been operated without the proper licenses and used the fake documents.A DNA test has revealed the fraud when a couple found the baby was not biological. Mainly this incident highlight the exposure of vulnerable women. To control this the strict regulation needed in the fertility services and the importance of verifying clinic is also important. It has also raisen the serious human rights concerns and led to government investigations and legal action.
This breaks my heart
These women deserve dignity. Science is meant to heal, not harm. Exploiting women and shattering the dreams of hopeful parents is beyond cruel. We urgently need strict laws, and accountability. This should never happen again.
This is a wake up call for India’s fertility and surrogacy industry. Poor women, desperate couples, and even innocent babies are being exploited.
The government needs to:
Make legal surrogacy simpler and transparent.
Regularly audit clinics.
Educate the masses so that people won’t fall into such traps.
It is not just one clinic this may be occurring elsewhere as well.
Scared after knowing that some people are behind the Novel profession doing such ruthless and henious acts as child trafficking for some money.
Advanced genetic assessment is assessable; why is not imposed parentage tests implemented with every surrogacy therapies among the reproductive centres? It may assist in avoiding such types of frauds.
Surrogacy is for those individual unable to conceive naturally but want to become a parent . In that this kind of fraudulent activities undergoing.Strict action should be taken against them and every clinics hospital should registered before consulting any hospital little information about hospital and doctor should be collected yo avoid the fraud
This case highlights how vulnerable couples seeking reproductive aid can fall prey to human trafficking networks disguise as clinical providers.
It also exposes systemic failures in enforcing medical and surrogacy regulations and ensuring ethical fertility care.
DNA testing served as the crucial tool in unmasking the scam, proving the need for transparency and accessible verification mechanisms.
In every year in India there minimum 2 3 news about scam related to Infant trafficking or child trafficking. The government needs to take strict action, to reduce the number of such crimes.
This is truly heartbreaking and disturbing. It instantly reminded me of the Telugu movie “Yashoda”, which showed exactly this kind of exploitation, women being misled, used for surrogacy, and even their fetuses being misused. Sadly, what was shown as fiction is happening in real life now. More strict rules and stronger monitoring are definitely needed to regulate fertility clinics. Exploiting vulnerable women in this way is absolutely inhumane!
This isn’t just about laws , it’s about humanity!!
Should surrogacy be banned or how can we make it ethical?
This tragic incident is a harsh reminder of the urgent need for ethical, legal, and medical oversight in fertility and surrogacy practices. When life itself becomes a commodity, it opens the door to human trafficking, fraud, and exploitation of the most vulnerable.
All the fertility clinics should have a valid legal certificate and approval. The data should be cross checked often to avoid these kind of mishaps.
The new ART bill has some very strict laws and regulations for surrogacy and fertility treatments. Despite this we get to hear such mishappenings. And it’s not only this single surrogacy racket that operates. In India, there’s still so much exploitation prevailing; economically poor women and couples are lured in through money in exchange of their eggs, sperm and womb.
