The Indian skin whitening market is estimated to be worth between Rs 5,000-10,000 crore. We need better regulation for the safety of consumers. Moreover, there needs to be awareness and discussion on colourism to curb this unnecessary practice. The industry preys on the insecurity of these young girls and women. (sometimes even men)

The focus must be on achieving healthy skin.
