Pectorals are a group of muscles containing Pectoralis Major and Pectoralis Minor muscles, situated in the chest region. They cover the entire upper body (chest) region.
-
The Pectoralis Major muscle is responsible for the flexion, extension, and rotation of the upper arm (humerus bone).
-
The Pectoralis Minor Muscle is responsible for stabilizing the scapula
-
Along with these important functions, they also play a role in breathing as accessory muscles.
-
These muscles get tight and cause pain mimicking that of angina over the period of time due to improper posture known as slouching.
-
It is most commonly seen in people who have desk jobs because of forward head and slouched posture.
- It causes issues with your overall body, including major areas like neck, chest, back, hips, and legs.
- Even though slouched posture feels relaxing and comforting, it can be detrimental for your health.
- Hence, be aware of your posture, whether it is helping you or harming you.
Have you ever noticed any of these issues with yourself? Have you avoided this trap or are you trapped in this issue?
