Self medication: shortcut or slow damage.

We don’t call it self medication, we just call it managing.

Headache - take a pill

Fever - take a tablet

No doctor, No questions just relief as you don’t have time to sit and handle the illness . Assignments , deadlines, exams as life doesn’t pause for the health.

Slowly this becomes habit, you stop thinking about why and where’s the pain taking place, just manage to disappear it, that’s where the change starts.

That one tablet becomes routine and relief becomes temporary and sometimes quickly goes below the background. We are careless, we actually ignore the signs until it becomes louder.

Self medication is not wrong but taking it blindly it where the problem occurs.

Are we really treating ourselves or just silencing our bodies?

That’s right. Awareness and restrictions on use of medicines is important.

Medications are never to be taken without prescription. Even OTC drugs like Paracetamol has adverse effects like hepatotoxicity in high amounts.

Major cause of drug resistance is self medication. Awareness about the same is important

Well said @Karuna18. Self medication for a prolonged period of time keeps the actual cause of the underlying problem unaddressed. It always best to talk professional medical help.
