Sometimes people know their family member, a friend, or a simple acquaintance was prescribed certain medication when they were sick, and when they face similar symptoms they believe they should also take that medication and it will help. Absolutely right

Most of the time they need fast recovery and people think that doctor would prescribe unnecessary tests. And medicine and they trust everyone except doctors, on counter self medication is responsible for antibiotic misuse and drug allergies, which should be avoided

People often self medicate because they think if they go near doctor they should spend more money so they avoid going near doctors and they self medicate.

Some people take meds from chemists rather going to the doctor, that’s equally dangerous
