Same Brand, Different Quality: What Are We Indians Really Eating?

Very informative. As health starts with daily eating habits. Consumption of such product can impact health of individual. Strict regulations should be made for product manufacturing that maintain standards.

Before using any packaged foods, we should read the labels. I truly agree with that same brand but different quality in India vs abroad. Sometimes I feel we Indians truly trust the industries and FCI by claiming “Healthy” or we don’t bother about what we are getting in a fully air-filled packet.

There is this one thing about indians they want to have everything which is free or priced low. Its just not about the eatables, almost every product such as medicines shampoos differs in quality. Food regulation is such a joke in india. Few indian masala brands are literally banned in foreign countries.

A symptom of capitalism, the Indian economy is imbalanced, where the majority of the population has to decide between their health or survival. When comparing chocolate confectioneries from UAE and India, a stark difference in the ingredients used can be seen in the same products for different markets, this is primarily due to stricter food and safety laws imposed on the foreign markets whereas in India, the FSSAI approval can seemingly be bought by the highest bidder.

It’s true. Unfortunately, the sad reality of it all is that this has caused people to believe that healthy eating is a luxury, and that only a handful of people can afford it. This is a real lesson on our part to really look at the back of each product and read the list of ingredients. Now is the time to take control of what we’re really eating.

There is a noticeable difference in the quality of food also other things as well in Indian products and products from other countries.and I think we as the consumer should be more aware about what we are putting in our body. Also there should be strict regulations regarding the food preparation.

FSSAI is busy removing the videos that contain allegations against them. I think working for them is not an option they consider.

Yes, even I have came across such things.. It’s actually the system which is not giving attention to this. How the fssai is giving approval to sell the product, when they know its going to harm the long time…

“A consumer society is about simplifying and degrading the consumer as well as the product.”

No wonder why the international brands cut their labor, material, and quality to satisfy the bare minimum in a country like India—it’s simply a no-brainer exercise for them. However, it is also our responsibility as consumers to be as aware as possible about our own consumption habits.

I have compared the quality of products in india and abroad. We definitely need to wake up and question the food quality.

Yes, i have compared the indian products with the ones selling abroad. I think urbanisation happened and the rest is history. You visit indian villages, and you will see how some of them still have natural produce of food item. Ingredients are natural. We , living in urbanised areas, are paying double and getting not even half of the natural product. Comparing brands with foreign countries is whole another topic, different environmental conditions, different farming and then import/export expenses pay a huge role in the quality we recieve

There should be strict laws on this as even we indians are humans and we need to eat healthy food .

I haven’t seen it myself but i have come across many such videos where they share the difference in the quality of products being sold in India and abroad. Cost is a major decisive factor for this. Our food regulation authority needs to look into this matter.

I’d lived in the UK for few years and I must agree with this claim. I wonder how the taste and nutrition of some brands which are manufactured in India taste different!!!

Honestly this is kind of concerning. We trust these brands thinking we’re getting the same quality everywhere, but clearly that’s not always true. If the ingredients are different and lower quality in India, that’s unfair to consumers. We should be more aware and actually start reading labels instead of just trusting the brand name.

This really made me stop and think. I’ve never really looked at ingredient lists from different countries before, but now I can’t help but notice. We put a lot of faith in these things. I think I’ll start paying more attention to labels. I think small choices we make now are probably more important for our health than we realize.

Yes ofcourse there is a difference seen. Food products should go through a strict quality check. Products are approved by FSSAI still we find unhealthy packed foods. There is a need to bring a change in quality standards and parameters for FSSAI approval.
