We should be aware of what we are buying and consuming. We should always check the ingredients before purchase. But many Indians opt low cost products over quality , this has reduced the overall health rate in the nation

Exactly, and in other countries, most of the chemicals and ingredients used in some food that we eat are banned! So why are we using it? We do need strict regulation

It surely is, add to that the mindset of the Indian general population of preferring to eat low-quality food over expensive healthy food is also something which these companies use to feed us low-quality products.

In India no body concentrate on quality, only people focus on cost of the food. No body follow on standard food safety guidelines. But in foreign countries they strictly follow the food safety guidelines. If violated any guidelines they have taken struct actions. But in India we have food safety guildlines… but no body take actions. In India will do food safety rides on restaurants and hotels but no actions.

Absolutely true, not only the chips even the branded chocolates in India is low quality while in abroad it is totally different. In India awareness about the quality of food is less. Quality matters a lot, as it creates addiction; on prolonged intake it leads to health issues.

How does one even compare? Should we go for a cost effective but quality comparamised version of a food or should be opt for great quality but also very heavy on the pocket? How does one make that choice if the choice is not clear to begin with? What could a poor person possibly do if he/she does not have funds to begin with? Food ultimately should be quality over price because our health is on the line but how do we know the good being provided to us are true and authentic without preservatives.

That’s very true; Indian regulatory authorities have somewhat sidelined this part. In many parts of india people still think that these “bournvita” Horlicks”, and other additives, especially with milk, which is usually given to children, boost the growth and intelligence of children. But in contrast, it is all low-quality ingredients used to benefit companies. Marketing is such that people have no other option but to believe. We do need to work on the price, quality, and marketing of the products we use.

As a B. Pharm student, my opinion is that India is currently in a ‘Quality Paradox.’ We have the manufacturing power to be the 'Pharmacy of the World,’ yet we see a noticeable gap between the export-grade medication we ship to the US/Europe and some of the generic formulations sold locally.

​I believe the problem isn’t just lack of technology, but a lack of transparency in bioavailability data for the public. We need stricter ‘One Quality’ standards. If a brand is trusted by an Indian mother for her child, it shouldn’t matter if that medicine was made for a pharmacy in Mumbai slum or a hospital in New York.
