Just watched Saairya?
One of the most emotional parts of the film touches on Alzheimer’s Disease – a brain disorder that slowly destroys memory, thinking skills, and even the ability to carry out simple tasks.

Let’s talk about Alzheimer’s Disease.

Just like portrayed in the movie Saairya, Alzheimer’s is more than just “forgetting.” It’s a slow, painful loss of identity, memories, and connection with loved ones.

Here’s what you should know:

:small_blue_diamond: Caused by abnormal buildup of amyloid plaques and tau tangles in the brain
:small_blue_diamond: Symptoms start subtly — forgetfulness, confusion, getting lost

Treatments like Donepezil and Memantine help slow progression
Support for patients AND caregivers is crucial

Awareness is very much needed for early detection and gradual intervention in case of Alzheimer’s. The most common and visible early symptoms are confusion and the person will find it difficult to complete even a simple or familiar task. People suffering from it get a lot of relief through some form of physical acitivity and following structured routines apart from medications. Two years back, FDA has approved a drug namely, “Lecanemab” towards slowing down the progression of Alzheimer’s and this is doing well as of now. By maintaining a regular sleep schedule with restorative sleep, connection with an uplifting social circle, and a good heart health can immensely help in reducing the risk related to this disease or it can delay its onset.
