Metformin is particularly effective in treating insulin resistance in PCOD, reducing androgens, controlling cycles, and promoting ovulation by activating AMPK and improving glucose absorption. It reduces long-term metabolic hazards and promotes weight control. Metformin by itself, however, rarely results in dependable fertility. For conception, lifestyle modifications, ovulation induction medications like clomiphene, or a combination of these methods are more effective. Instead of using it as a stand-alone treatment, use it as part of comprehensive management.
