I always think some patients feel they know more than a doctor.
It’s because they study all the symptoms they have and diseases correlating to it from AI and other sources and talking about it without even listening to what doctor has to say. They try yo force doctor to say what they want to hear. If you say something else and try to explain, they say this doctor or that doctor doesn’t know anything.
The truth is we go through every detail of patient like weight, height, age, symptoms, signs, reports and the details given by the relatives or patients and then come to a diagnosis and treatment.
yes, that’s a serious concern in rural areas where people are still not litterate enough to understand medical terms and it’s part of our profession to make them comfortable and understand.
Yes..Many times patient may misunderstood the terms we use to with..
But for patient it’s new..or something which he/she search on google or on AI and ultimately land in imagine different type of scenarios in his/her mind about own health..but if there is no communication barrier - as if we practice in vernacular language if possible then there is least chance of this types of misunderstandings..
