Psoriatic arthritis, or PsA, is an autoimmune condition that links skin inflammation and joint pain. It usually develops among people with psoriasis and is a condition wherein the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissues.
How It Affects You
- Joints: pain, stiffness, and swelling, especially in fingers, toes, and spine
- Skin & Nails: Red scaly patches, nail pitting, or nail separation.
- Eyes: Can trigger uveitis, leading to redness and blurred vision.
- Organs: Chronic inflammation can involve the heart, eyes, and metabolic processes, which can increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
